W. and c. Africa;
Three or four populations;
(1) Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin to s. Nigeria w. of Dahomey Gap. Vagrant in e. Nigeria.
(2) S. Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon to ne. Angola (Malanje and Lunda), n. and e. Zaire, Central African Republic, s. Chad, s. Sudan, s. and w. Uganda, w. Kenya n. to Cherenganis, Rwanda, Burundi, and nw. Tanzania (w. Serengeti and Kibondo). Winters in Angola.
