Nc. South America. Amazonian South America. Coastal e. Brazil. Ec. Argentina;
Four widely separated populations;
(1) Ne. and se. Colombia, w. and s. Venezuela, Guyana, Surinman, Guiana and n. Brazil s. to Mato Grosso and Maranhao.
(2) E. Ecuador, e. Peru, ne. Bolivia and w. Amazonian Brazil (Mato Gross).
(3) E. Bolivia, n. Paraguay and sw. Brazil (Mato Gross do Sul).
(4) Coastal e. Brazil (Pernambuco, c. and e. Bahia (Chapada Diamantina) to Rio de Janeiro).
(5) Coastal e. Brazil (Sao Paulo) and ne. Argentina (Buenos Aires).
The Tachira Emerald has a very limited range in w. Venezuela (Tachira).
