Range

C. Central America s. to se. tropical South America;
Fragmented distribution;
(1) E. Mexico (Gulf-Caribbean slope in Veracruz, Oaxaca), Belize, Guatemala and Honduras.
(2) Se. Nicaragua, Costa Rica on both slopes in Panama then from Colombia e. to Venezuela, Trinidad, Guyana, Surinam, Guiana and along e. slope of the Andes in e. Ecuador, e. Peru, n. Bolivia (Pando, Beni, n. La Paz). Also occurs locally in Amazonian and e. Brazil (e. Bahia).
