Africa, s. Arabia to India and c. Asia;
Fragmented distribution;
(1) N. Africa in Morocco (oases s. of the Atlas Mountains), Algeria and Tunisia.
(2) Egypt (Nile Valley, Suez Canal s. to Wadi Halfa).
(3) Senegal to Ethiopia and South Africa (Cape Province) including Principe and Sao Tome. Arabia.
(4) Socotra Is.
(5) E. Arbia to s. Iran, Turkestan, Afghanistan and e. Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Indian Subcontinent e. to Bihar and w. Bengal, the Andaman Is. and w. China.
Introduced to w. Australia (sw. Western Australia) and probably Malta.
