Range

Madagascar and adjacent Is.;
Fragmented island populations;
(1) Madagascar.
(2) Aldabra Is. and Glorioso Is.
Formerly on Cosmoledo Is., Astove and Assumption.
(3) Comoro Is. (Anjouan Is.).
(4)Amirante Is.
(5) Seychelles.
Introduced the race (1) to Seychelles, Amirantes, Mauritius and Reunion. Chagos Archipelago (Diego Garcia Is. where a hybrid population has possibly been introduced).
