N. Pacific Ocean and Bering Sea;
E. Siberia (Chokotski Peninsula) s. to Ussuriland, Sakhalin Is., Kuril Is., n. Japan and e. to Commander Is., the Aleutians, Diomede Is., and Cape Tompson in w. Alaska s. along the coasts of w. Canada and w. United States (c. California in the Farallon Is.).
Formerly nested on Anacapa Is.
