Range
S. South America and adjacent waters;
Breeds from c. Chile (Juan Fernandez Is. off the coast of Aconcagua, St. Maria Is., Arauco, Valdiva, s. through the is. of Tierra del Fuego, Cape Horn and Diego Rameriz Is. in the Drake Straits), Falkland Is., Argentina (Staten Is., Pt. Tombo, Pt. Clara and the Valdes Peninsula in Chubut n. to the Gulf of San Matias (?)).
Winters n. to 30° S., Coquimbo, n. Chile in the Pacific Ocean and Uruguay and s. Brazil to 23° S. (Rio de Janeiro, and Bahia) in the Atlantic Ocean.
