Range

E. and w. Indian Ocean and sw. Pacific Ocean;
Two populations;
(1) Islands in the w. Indian Ocean (Madagascar, Seychelles, Aldabra, Amirante, Chagos and Maldive Is.).
(2) Islands in the e. Indian Ocean (Andaman Is.), islands off China from Hopeh to Fukien, off s. Japan on Makeno Is. off Kyushu, Ryukyu Is., Okinawa, Taiwan s. to the Greater Sundas, New Guinea, islands off ne. Australia from Northern Territory to e. Queensland (Great Barrier Reef islands), New Caledonia and islands in the w. Pacific Ocean Yap Is., Marshall Is., Ponape and Micronesia (Samoa and Cook Is.).
