North America;
W. and c. Alaska across Canada from c. Yukon, nw. and c. Mackenzie, n. Manitoba s. to s. Alaska w. from the Alaskan Peninsula to s. British Columbia, c. and sw. Alberta, s. Saskatchewan, s. Manitoba and nw. Ontario (s. James Bay). Small isolated populations in w. and se. Quebec.
Winters s. to Mexico, the Gulf of Panama and the Greater Antilles.
