Circumpolar in the Holarctic;
(1) Iceland, Jan Mayen, Spitsbergen, Bear Is., Frans Josef Land and Europe across n. Russia, Novaya Zemlya, Severnaya Zemlya and w. Asia.
(2) Siberia, New Siberian Is. to Anadyrland.
(3) W. and n. Alaska s. to Hooper Bay, St. Matthew Is., Hall Is. and Pribilof Is. e. across nw. Canada.
(4) Canada including Banks Is., Prince Edward Is., Ellef Ringnes and n. Ellesmere Is. to n. Labrador s. to Southampton, Coats Is., Belcher Is., s. Baffin Is. and n. Greenland.
Disperses s. in the winter.
