Range

Circumpolar in the Holarctic;
(1) Arctic and Subarctic islands including Spitsbergen and in n. Europe from Scandinavia e. across n. Russia, Novaya Zemlya to n. Siberia to the Lena River Delta.
(2) E. from the Lena River Delta across n. Siberia to Chukotski Peninsula s. to Kamchatka and the Sea of Okhotsk. W. and n. Alaska s. to Hooper Bay, St. Matthew Is., St. Lawrence Is. and Nunivak Is. e. across n. Canada in n. Yukon, n. Mackenzie, n. Keewatin and Canadian Arctic is. s. to interior mountains in c. Alaska, sw. Yukon, s. Keewatin, Southampton Is. and n. Quebec and Greenland.
Disperses as far s. as Brazil (n. Bahia), Tierra del Fuego, South Africa and se. Australia off se. South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales (Wollongong) and se. Queensland.
