Ne. Siberia (Chukotski Peninsula), w. and n. Alaska s. to Norton Bay and n. Canada from n. Yukon, n. Mackenzie, Arctic islands of Banks Is., Victoria Is., King William Is., c. Baffin Is. to n. Labrador and s. to w. Alaska (Yukon River delta), ec. Mackenzie, se. Keewatin, ne. Manitoba, Southampton Is., n. Ontario, n. Quebec and coast Labrador.
Migrates thoughout the United States.
Winters s. along the Pacific coast from s. Mexico to s. Peru and along the Atlantic coast s. from the West Indies and c. Mexico (Yucatan) to Brazil (Bahia), c. Argentia.
