Range

Ex. e. Asia and Japan;
E. Primorsky, s. Sakhalin Is., s. Kiril Is. and Japan (Kushiro and Akkeshi-ko Bekanbeushi Marshes, Hokkaido s. to n. and c. Honshu and possibly Kyushu).
Winters in e. Australia from the Cape York Peninsula, Queensland (Kelly's Swamp and Lake Samsonvale near Brisbane and Cairns Botanical Gardens), New South Wales, Victoria (Werribee) and se. South Australia and less frequently inland to n. Northern Territory (Knuckey's Lagoon) and Tasmania. Small numbers may winter in New Guinea and New Zealand.
