Group I:
(1) W. Europe from se. England and s. Sweden e. across s. Russia, Georgia to Turkestan, Kirghiz steppes, s. Siberia, Transbaicalia, s. Ussuriland and ne. China to Japan (Honshu and Kyushu) s. in is. of the e. Atlantic Ocean (Cape Verde Is.), n. Africa in Morocco e. in the Mediterranean Basin to Egypt, Arabia, Oman, Iran, Pakistan (Baluchistan and Sind), w. and n. India (Gujarat, n. Bihar).
Winters s. in the Sahel zone of Africa s. along the coasts of sw. Mauritania and Senegambia and Red Sea coast of Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Socotra Is.
(2) S. Japan (Yatsu Higata Nature Observation Center, Chiba), Ryukyu Is., e. and s. China. Winters in Taiwan, the Philippines, s. Thailand, Indochina, Sumatra, Java, Bali and Borneo.
(3) Se. India and Sri Lanka.
Group II:
(4) W. United States along the Pacific coast from s. Washington to w. Mexico (s. Baja) and interior from s. Oregon, ne. California (Moss Landing, Monterey), w. Nevada, s. Arizona, s. New Mexico, and Utah. Sc. Canada in s. Saskatchewan in c. and se. United States from Colorado, c. Kansas, nc. Oklahoma, nc. Texas and the Gulf of Mexico coast from Texas to Florida and ne. Mexico (Tamaulipas). The West Indies (Bahamas, Cuba, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico and the Lesser Antilles on St. Martin) and the Netherland Antilles.
Winters s. along the w. coast of Mexico (Oaxaca, Chiapas) and Guatemala to Panama. Islands off the n. coast of Venezuela from Curacao e. to Margarita Is.
Group III:
(5) Coastal Peru to sc. Chile.
