N. Alaska and n. Canada from n. Yukon, n. Mackenzie, n. Keewatin, Banks Is., Victoria Is., s. Somerset Is., c. Baffin Is. e. to n. Labrador and s. to Pribilof Is., and e. Aleutians, w. Alaska (Alaskan Peninsula and St. Lawrence Is.) and s. to Queen Charlotte Is., sw. and c. British Columbia, and nw. United States (Washington and sc. Oregon) and se. Yukon, s. Mackenzie, ne. Alberta, n. Saskatchewan, to c. Quebec, Gulf of St. Lawrence to s. Nova Scotia.
Winters along the coasts of North America and South America (Surinam and Guiana) from the United States (California) to Chile and from South Carolina s. to e. Brazil (e. Bahia), Argentina (Patagonia), Bermuda, the West Indies, Galapagos Is. and Hawaiian Is.(?);

Summer: ALK, YUK, ex. nw. BCO, MAC, ex. ne. ALB, KEE to s. arctic islands, n. MAN, n. ONT, n. QUE, LAB, coastal NFD, n. and s. NSC (Brier Is.).
Migration in the spring along a broad front though most of North America (Delaware Bay). Fall migration tends to be along the coasts via James Bay, the Maritime Provinces, and New England down the w. Atlantic Ocean to the Antilles and South America (OHO (Armleder Park, Cincinnati), MAS (Cape Cod National Seashore)). Occurs on Bermuda during fall migration.
Winter: Pacific coasts of ORG and CAL. Atlantic coasts of MYD, VIR, NCA, SCA, GEO, FLA to Gulf coasts of ALA, MIS, LOU, and e. TEX.
