Range
W. to c. c. South America; Ne. e. South America;
Two populations;
The larger population extends from w. Amazonian Brazil (w. of the Rio Negro and Rio Madeira), and s. Colombia(?) w. to e. Peru. The smaller population occurs in Guiana (Tamanoir, Mana river). Some authorities restrict this species to the area n. of the Amazon and Rio Solimoes.
