Se. Asia and the Philippines;
Two populations;
Pakistan and India n. in the Himalayas from Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh to s. China, Hainan Is. and Taiwan and s. to se. Asia, Sri Lanka and the Philippines (Calayan, Luzon, Mindoro and Mindanao).
Winters within breeding range to the Greater Sundas.
