Range

Palearctic;
Fragmented distribution;
(1) Europe from Portugal (Montados e. of Evora on the border with Spain, Monforte Plains, Campo Maior, and Castro Verde), Spain (vicinity of Villafafila in the Spanish Zamora in the Duero River Basin, Extremadura Province in the Tajo River Basin, Laguna de la Janda, Cadiz), Germany (Telz), Poland, Hungary (Kiskunsag National Park, Kiskinlachaza), the Balkans, nw. Africa in n. Morocco e. through Turkey (Konya Basin), nw. Iran, Ukraine to the Black Sea and Caspian Sea and s. to the n. Caucasus.
(2) Kazakhstan and Turkestan to the Kirghiz steppes and sw. Transcaspia e in w. China (nw. Sinkiang) and Mongolia (Altai region) and adjacent s. Siberia.
Winters in Iran, China (Yellow River Delta).
Formerly occurred in Manchuria and the Soviet Far East.
