E. Indonesia, New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago and ne. Australia;
Fragmented distribution;
(1) Indonesia (Damar and Tanimbar Is.), Aru Is., w. Papuan Is. (Waigeo, Batanta, Salawati and Misool Is.), New Guinea including Yapen and Karkar Is., D'Entrecasteaux Archipelago (Fergusson Is.), n. Australia (ne. Queensland from e. Cape York Peninsula (Iron Range National Park) s. to Cairns (Cairns Botanical Gardens and Mount Spec National Park), Townsville and inland to the Atherton Tableland (Kingfisher Park).
(2) The Bismarck Archipelago (New Hanover and New Ireland). St. Matthias Is.
