Sw. Europe and nw. Africa. E. and s. Africa. Madagascar;
Three, perhaps four, populations;
S. Spain and n. Morocco. Ethiopia. Angola, se. and e. Zaire, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Uganda, Kenya (highlands, Rift Valley lakes and Lake Naivasha), Tanzania (lakes in the Crater and Mbulu highlands), Rwanda, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe and South Africa (Cape Province). Madagascar.
Formerly in Algeria.
