Chad, s. Sudan, Kenya (Lake Baringo), Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Pemba Is. and Mafia Is. then s. locally in Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Angola, Namibia, n. and e. Botswana, Zimbabwe and ne. South Africa (ne. Transvaal, Cape Province), Madagascar and Comoro Is.
Probably introduced on Mauritius.
