Range

West Indies (Greater Antilles). C. Central America to n. South America.
Highly fragmented distribution in s. Central America, n. and w. South America;
(1) S. Mexico (Nayarit, Michoacan, Guerrero, Puebla, Veracruz, Quintana Roo, Oaxaca and Chiapas), Belize. El Salvador. Costa Rica.
Birds in Panama have not yet been assigned a race.
(2) West Indies (w. Cuba and probably the Isle of Pines, Hispaniola (Dominican Republic), and Jamaica where may be extirpated). C. and e. Colombia, w. Venezuela. N. Venezuela. Trinidad and Tobago. Se. Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam, and Guiana to e. Brazil (Bahia), e. Bolivia (Tarija), Paraguay, Uruguay and n. Argentina s. to Tucuman, Cordoba and Buenos Aires. W. Ecuador and nw. Peru. Se. Peru.
