Range

Wc. Africa. E. tropical Africa.
Two main populations;
N. Ivory Coast irregularly e. in Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon and s. to coastal Congo. N. and e. Zaire and e. Uganda to w., c. and s. Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, ex. se. Angola, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Breeds in scattered locations in South Africa (Natal and e. Cape Province) in wet years.
