C. Palearctic;
S. Spain and nw. Africa (n. Morocco, Nigeria, Chad and Sudan. Formerly in Algeria and Tunisia). Se. Europe e. through ne. Turkey to n. Caspian Sea and Aral Sea, w. Kazakhstan, Kirghiz steppes to the Altai and se. Siberia from s. Transbaicalia to Ussuriland and n. China (nw. Sinkiang e. through Inner Mongolia and w. Manchuria).
Winters in nc. Africa and India.
