Range

Africa s. of the Sahara;
Two separate populations;
(1) Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo to sw. Central African Republic, sc. and ne. Zaire, Rwanda, Uganda, w. Kenya (Trans-Nzoia and Kitale areas), Tanzania, Angola, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and locally further s. to Zimbabwe and e. South Africa (Transvaal, Natal and se. Cape Province).
(2) Very restricted range in s. South Africa in the mountain ranges of the s. Cape Province.
