Range

Sw. Europe and nw. Africa. Africa s. of the Sahara. India and se. Asia;
Three widely separated populations;
(1) Mediterranean Basin in s. Portugal, sw. Spain and nw. Africa from n. Morocco e. to n. Tunisia.
(2) Senegambia, s. Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin and s. Niger to the Central African Republic, s. Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia and ex. sw. Arabia (Yemen), Rwanda Burundi, Uganda, Kenya (Mara Game Refuge, c. Rift Valley, Tsavo parks, and Arusha District), Tanzania (Serengeti National Park), Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana and s. in w. Africa to Gabon, Congo, Zaire, Angola, Namibia and South Africa (Transvaal, Natal and Cape Province).
(3) E. Pakistan (Sind), most of India except the ex. se., n. to the Himalayas, Nepal, Sikkim and w. to Bangladesh and Burma.
(4) Se. China, Hainan Is., Taiwan s. to c. Thailand, c., s. and e. Burma and Indochina.
The Philippines:
(5) Luzon.
(6) Negros and Umod Is.
(7) Bohol. Mindanao and Jolo.
(8) Sulu Is.
(9) W. Java and Bali.
