Range

C. Asia;
(1) Kirghiz steppes, e. Kazakhstan in the foothills of the e. Tien Shan, nw. China w. to Kashgar (w. and n. Xinjiang, Altai Mountains), Mongolia (n. edge of Fergana Basin) and s. Siberia (Buryatia n. to Vitim Plateau and Chita. Wanders to Tajikistan n. in w. foothills of the Russian Altai Mountains, Tuva Mountains, and Sayan Mountains, n. and w. to Krasnoyarsk ca. 55ºN in c. Siberia.
(2) C. and ne. China (Zizhiqu through Tsinghai (Qinghai), se. Kansu (Gansu) in the e. Nan Shan, Shaanzi, Shanxi, Hebei, Nei Mongol to s. Manchuria (Heilongjiang)) and rarely e. Siberia (c. Amurland and Ussuriland where it has occurred in the winter around Khabarovsk and Lake Khanka).
Introduced and possibly established in the vicinity of Manila (Luzon, n. Philippines).
