Range

C. e. Asia;
S. Siberia (Lake Baikal and Transbaicalia to Amurland and Ussuriland) e. in ne. Mongolia, n. China (Manchuria, Heilungkiang), and n. Korea. Isolated populations have bred in ne. India (Assam), n. Burma and the Philippines.
Winters in India, Sri Lanka, se. Asia, s. China, Borneo and the Philippines (Sula Is.). Some birds may winter in s. Ussuriland and ne. China. Sometimes winters in Taiwan.
