Russia n. to the Crimea, Azerbaijan and n. Caspian Sea and Aral Sea, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan s. to n. Africa (s. Tunisia, c. Egypt), the Near East in Israel to the Sinai Peninsula and Jordan (Wadi Araba in s. Jordan River Valley), e. Arabia, Persian Gulf and s. Iran. Africa s. of the Sahara in s. Mauritania, Senegambia, Guinea, s. Mali, Burkina Faso, s. Niger, n. Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Socotra Is., Yemen, n. Somalia, Uganda, Kenya (Rift Valley s. to Naivasha), n. Tanzania, Angola, Namibia, and ne. South Africa (Transvaal).
Small numbers winter in the Cote de Donana, sw. Spain.

(3) The Himalayas of Pakistan and nw. India (Punjab and Kashmir) to s. India.
