Coastal ranges of nw. Venezuela (w. Zulia, Carabobo, Merida, Aragua), ne. Colombia (Andes, Santa Marta Mountains and Sierra de Perija) s. through Ecuador, Peru to wc. Bolivia (La Paz, Cochabamba, w. Santa Cruz).
Formerly in nw. Argentina (Jujuy, Tucuman).
