Range
Ex. e. Europe and c. Asia;
(1) Romania to sw. and sc. Russia (Ukraine e. to upper Irtysh River s. to Caucasus and e. to the Caspian Sea and Aral Sea), e. Kazakhstan and Kirghiz steppes, Lake Balkhash and perhaps to the Tien Shan and Altai Mountains.
Winters to the sw. in the Near East (Bab al Mandab, Suez, Israel) and Middle East, Arabia and e. and s. East Africa (n. and e. Kenya, Rift Valley and Mara Game Reserve).
(2) Ce. Russia (Altai Mountains), sw. Siberia (sw. Transbaicalia), w. Mongolia, Manchuria, w. China (Sinkiang) and Tibet.
Winters s. from s. Russia and Afghanistan.
