Range
Nw. Mexico through Central America to the Andes of n. and sw. South America; The Guianas;
Two populations;
(1) W. Mexico along the Pacific slope and adjacent interior (se. Sonora, sw. Chihuahua, e. Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Aguas Calientes, Oaxaca and Chiapas), Belize(?), Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama.
(2) N. and e. Colombia (Santa Marta Mountains, Sierra de Perija, Antioquia, Cauca, Caqueta) e. to n. Venezuela (Carabobo, Aragua) and s. through Andes of e. Ecuador, e. and c. Peru, n. and c. Bolivia (Beni, La Paz, Cochabamba and w. Santa Cruz) to nw. Argentina (Salta). An isolated population of unknown range occurs in Guyana, Surinam and Guiana.
