Sw. United States through Central America to w. South America; N. South America s. in a band e. of the Andes to e. and s. South America;
Two populations;
(1) Sw. United States (se. California, s. Arizona, s. New Mexico to c. Texas) and w. Mexico (n. Baja) s. in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama to Pacific slope of w. Colombia (Cauca Valley, Patia Valley), w. Ecuador and w. Peru.
(2) Ne. Colombia (Atlantico e. to the Guajira Peninsula, Santander and Norte de Santander), n. and se. Venezuela (Falcon, Aragua, Guarico, Anzoategui, Monagas, Sucre, n. Bolivar) s. in Surinam to e. Peru, e. Bolivia, Paraguay, c. and ne. Brazil (Maranhao, Ceara, and Bahia (Chapada Diamantina) to Mato Grosso and Rio Grande do Sul) to Uruaguay, n. Argentina s. to La Pampa and Buenos Aires and sc. Chile (Aisen to Magallanes).
