C. to e. Asia and Japan;
(1) S. Siberia (upper Ob River, Altai e. to Lake Baikal, Transbiacalia, middle Lena River, w. Amurland, Ussuriland) and Mongolia to ne. and e. China (Heilungkiang s. to e. Hopeh and Kwangtung), Korea and Taiwan.
Winters in the Andaman Is. and Nicobar Is. and e. to s. China, Burma, Malay Peninsula, Indochina and Greater Sundas.
(2) Sakhalin Is., s. Kuril Is. and Japan (c. Honshu). Winters in Indonesia, Greater Sundas, n. Sulawesi and Lesser Sundas (Timor), Philippines and possibly w. Micronesia.
(3) S. Ryukyu Is. (Iriomote and Ishigaki).
