Sw. Australia; Se. Australia;
Two populations;
Coastal Western Australia n. to the North West Cape and along the se. coast from Port Lincoln, se. South Australia to Queensland n. to Brisbane and occasionally Bowen. Locally in the interior from Cape Leeuwin, sw. Western Australia e. through South Australia to Victoria, New South Wales (breeds n. to Camberra and Sydney) and se. Queensland. Kangaroo Is., is. in the Bass Strait and Tasmania.
