W. Africa; E. and s. Africa;
Somewhat fragmented distribution:
(1) E. from e. Guinea, the border area of n. Nigeria and the Cameroon (highlands) to Gabon. Ex. s. Chad, se. Sudan, w. and c. Ethiopia, ne. Zaire (n. Ituri), Uganda, e. Kenya (local above 1850 m in highlands of w. and c. Kenya and n. Tanzania, especially Mt. Kenya, Aberdares, Mt. Meru, Kilimanjaro and between 1200 and 2200 m in the West Usambaras), Rwanda, Burundi, n. Tanzania and across s. Zaire to ec. Angola, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.
(2) S. Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, e.and s. Namibia and South Africa.
