Range

S. c. South America;
Breeds only in nw. Argentina and Paraguay.
Disperses to n., e. and se. Bolivia (Lagunillas, Santa Cruz s. to Tarija), s. Brazil (s. Mato Grosso in Vrucum, Rio Grande do Sul), Paraguay, Uruguay and ne. Argentina in Tucuman s. and e. to Santiago del Estero (Banados de Figueroa), Santa Fe and n. Buenos Aires. In flood years, it occurs as far e. as Cape San Antonio, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
