Range

Ex. se. Siberia, ne. China and possibly North Korea;
Summer range = 667,000km2; Winter range = 2,129,000km2;
Ussuriland, Amurland (Jewish Autonomous Region, Khabarovsk area of the n. Sikhote-Alin Mountains, Bikin River and Inman River basins, Primorskii Krai (Primorye), Sudzukhe Sanctuary) and ne. China in ne. Manchuria (Heilungkiang, Chonpaek Mountains, Jilin, Inner Mongolia and possibly Kirin) and North Korea (Chosuji).
Seems to winter mostly on rivers along the e. slope of the Sikhote-Alin Mountains in Siberia (Soviet Far East). In some years, it disperses more widely. In those winters, it may occur in c. and se. China (Poyang Lake, ne. Jiangxi, along the Yangtze River w. to e. Szechwan and s. to Kwangtung and in Hupeh, Fukien, Hunan, Shensi, se. Kansu and Kweichow) and possibly even Tibet. Small numbers winter in the Commander Is., South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, n. Vietnam, Thailand and n. Burma.
