Winters s. from ex. sw. Canada (sw. British Columbia) and United States along the Pacific coast to sw. Arizona, ec. New Mexico, n. Texas to s. Illinois, w. Tennessee in the Mississippi River Valley, Ohio River Valley, and Great Lakes (Lake St. Clair and w. Lake Erie), c. Georgia and in the Atlantic coast states n. to Massachusetts and s. in Mexico (n. Baja and commonly s. to Michoacan and Distrito Federal and Jalisco (San Francisco Bay) in the w. and Veracruz in the e.) to Guatemala, the West Indies (Cuba) and Bermuda. Annually in Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu and Shikoku).

MOU, ARK, LOU, MIS, s. ILL, s. IND, sw. OHO, ex. w. WVA, KTY, TEN, ALA, e. MAS, RID, s. CNT, se. NYK, NJY, e. PEN, DEL (Chesapeake Bay), MYD, e. VIR, e. NCA, e. SCA, se. GEO and FLA.
