Range

S. South America;
S. Peru (Puno, Cuzco). Chile from Aconcagua s. to Chiloe Is. and sporadically further s., Uruguay and Argentina from Santa Fe. s. (Mar Chiquitita Lagoon, Cordoba and Meseta de Strobel, Santa Cruz) to Tierra del Fuego.
Disperses n. during winter to s. Peru, w. Bolivia (La Paz, Santa Cruz, Tarija), Paraguay and s. Brazil (Rio de Janiero, Rio Grande do Sul).
Vagrant to the Falkland Is.
