Range

N. South America;
N. and e. Colombia from the lower Magdalena Valley to Guajira and s. to Caqueta, Arauca and Meta, n. and c. Venezuela (Margarita Is., nests in Falcon, Apure and Delta Amacuro), Tobago, Trinidad (Caroni Swamp), Guyana (Pointe Beliague, Karouabo), Surinam, Guiana to coastal e. Brazil (e. Bahia) s. to Parana. Small isolated population in Santos Bay, Sao Paulo.
