Two populations;
E. Honduras, Costa Rica (Caribbean slope, Rio Frio, coastal swamps n. and s. of Limon), Panama (Bocas del Toro, Almirante Bay, Bayano River, Darien), n. and c. Colombia (lower Atrato Valley to Rio Truando e. to the base of the Santa Marta Mountains s. to the mid Magdalena Valley). S. Venezuela (Rio Apure, Orinoco), Guyana, Surinam, Guiana, Brazil (Bahia), e. Ecuador, e. Peru (Chamicuros), n. and e. Bolivia, Paraguay, ex. ne. Argentina (Misiones).
