E. of the Andes in e. Colombia, n. and se. Venezuela (Zulia to Apure, Sucre, Monagas and from nw. Bolivar to the Gran Sabana), Guyana, Surinam, Brazil (mainly e. of the Rio Negro and s. of the Amazon, Bahia (Carinhanha)), Bolivia (s. Beni, Santa Cruz), Paraguay, Uruguay to c. Argentina (Chubut) and Chile (Santiago, Colchagua, O'Higgins, Osorno, and Magallanes).
