Range
W. South America;
Breeds on is. off n. Peru (Piura, from Macabi Is. and Guanape Is. s. to Chinca Is., Ballestas Is. off Paracas, and Lobos Is.) and c. Chile (Coquimbo, Pupuya Is. and Concon Is. off Valparaiso s. to Santiago and formerly on Mocha Is.). In recent years off s. Argentina (Point Tombo between Puerto Deacado and Santa Cruz, Chubut).
Disperses n. along the coast of Ecuador to s. Colombia (Buenaventura Bay) and s. to sc. Chile (Valdivia, Corral). Rarely reaches Colombia and Panama.
