Range

Pantropical; C. Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean;
(1) Se. United States (Florida Keys at the Dry Tortugas), West Indies (Bahamas, sw. Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Virgin Is., and the Lesser Antilles off Anguilla and in the Grenadines), Mexico (n. Yucatan), Belize, Honduras, n. Colombia (Malpelo is. off Pacific coast and Los Monjes Is. in Caribbean), Venezuela (Islas Aves e. to Los Hermanos), Guyana, Brazil (Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and Fernando de Noronha Is.) and Ascension Is.
(2) Gulf of Guinea and off of e. Africa n. of 10°S off Cameroon. S. Red Sea (Haycock Is.), Gulf of Aden (Mait and Kal Farun Is.), Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia (Jazirat Sabuniya), Socotra Is., Kenya (Pemba Channel, August to February) and Tanzania, Latham Is. s. of Zanzibar, Kuria Muria Is. off s. Oman to w. India, Sri Lanka, Latham, Amirante, Aldabra and Assumption Is., the Seychelles and Mascarenes.
(3) Malaya, Indochina, Java, many small is. in the sw. Coral Sea, Lesser Sundas (Gunungapi Is.), Cocos Is. (Keeling Is.), Christmas Is., Philippines, is. in the Sulu Sea (Tubbataha Reef), Ryukyu Is., Marianas (Tinian), Hawaiian Is. (Kure e. to Kaula Rock off Niihau and Moku Manu off Oahu), Marshall, Kiribati, Fiji, Samoa, Pitcairn, Tuamotu, Marquesas, Society, Cook and Kermadec Is. and Sala-y-Gomez.
(4) Ne. Australia (is. in Torres Strait, Michaelmas Cay off Cairns and is. off se. Queenslands), Norfolk and Lord Howe Is., which is the southern-most colony in the world.
(5) Alijos Rocks, Revillagigedos Is. and Clipperton Is. off w. Mexico (Baja). (?) Juan Fernandez Is. off Chile. Seems to also occur off the coast of Chile s. to San Ambrosio and San Felix. Ranges widely in tropical Oceans.
