Sub-saharan tropical Africa;
Fragemented distribution in the ne. part of range;
(1) Senegambia, s. Mali, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, s. Nigeria, s. Cameroon, sw. Central African Republic, s. Chad, s. Sudan, s. Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, w. Kenya, and w. Tanzania.
(2) Angola to Kenya and South Africa (Natal).
(3) C. Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, s. Angola, ne. Nambia, n. Botswana, Zimbabwe, e. South Africa (e. Natal, n. and e. Transvaal, e. Swaziland).
