Range

Caucasus, Himalayas, and c. Asia;
Two widely separated populations;
(1) Caucasus of n. Iran in the Caucasus.
(2) C. Asia in Transcaucsus, e. Turkestan, e. Kazakhstan, Afghanistan (Pamir Mountains), Himalayas of n. Pakistan and n. India (Kashmir and Ladakh e. to Arunachal Pradesh), Nepal, Sikkim, Tibet, w. and nc. China, Mongolia and sw. Siberia (Altai Mountains and Lake Baikal region).
