From the British Isles, s. Scandinavia s. of the Arctic Circle in nw. Russia to the Ural Mountains s. to s. France, s. Italy, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, the Crimea, and w. Caucasus. Locally e to w. Siberia along the upper Irtysh River.
Winters s. to c. Africa.
