Europe to c. Siberia and w. Himalayas;
Fragmented distribution;
(1) Europe in the British Isles and Scandinavia e. across nw. and c. Russia then s. to the Mediterranean region to Turkey, Lebanon e. through the Crimea, Caucasus, n. and w. Iran.
(2) Sw. Siberia in the Altai Mountains and Sayan Mountains to Lake Baikal then s. in c. Transcaslpia, Turkestan, e. Kazakhstan to the Himalayas of n. Pakistan and n. India (Kashmir) to w. Nepal and w. China (n. and w. Sinkiang).
Winters in n. India.
(3) Nw. Africa in nw. Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Corsica, and Sardinia.
