Se. Siberia in Russian Far East (s. Ussuriland) s. to se. China s. to sw. Sichuan, n. Guizhou and n. Fujian), s. Japan (sw. Honshu, nw. Kyushu). Occasionally in ne. India (Assam, Cachar Hills).
Migrant in n. India (Ladakh).
Winters s. to the Greater Sundas (Sumatra, Java, and Borneo) and Philippines;
